Which goods provide Diplomacy on expeditions in Anno 1800
Posted on Jan 15, 2021
Every expedition in Anno 1800 requires at least three different traits. Apart from items, different goods are a good way to provide those traits to your expedition.
This list of goods provides Diplomacy to any expedition in Anno 1800.
When on expedition, it's always good to take someone with plenty of charm and who has smooth talking down to a T. A good chat can turn even the direst situation, well, less dire.
Diplomacy is a skill in Anno 1800 expeditions for which you'll mostly rely on items. Some characters will even provide you with +60% bonus, especially useful on the Land of Lions expedition that comes with the DLC.
Goods that offer Diplomacy bonus
Now, only a few items actually provide a diplomacy bonus to your expedition. They are:
- Beer, 10% per 50t
- Cigars, 15% per 50t
- Champagne, 30% per 50t
These are the only goods in Anno 1800 that provide the diplomacy bonus. Champagne obviously yields the largest expedition bonus, but is also not available until you reach investors and is fairly expensive. It's worth more being sold to the people than stuck on a ship on it's way into the unknown.
But as an added bonus: all three of these goods also provide rations. So if your next expedition needs diplomacy, either one of these will give you both the diplomacy as well as the rations.
Items offering a diplomacy bonus
Of course, there are plenty of items providing a diplomacy bonus to send with your expedition. Ranging from 4% (normal items) to as high as 75% (legendary items), you're spoiled for choice as the game progresses.
Now, there is one downside of using items. If you are using a military ship for your expedition (I tend to use Frigates a lot), a Diplomacy item will usually take up a cargo slot. Unless it's a military item of course.
You should always keep at least one cargo slot available, just in case you'll find a bonus item on the expedition. Especially the Land of Lions expedition from the DLC will provide some bonus items along the way. Such a shame to have to ditch them!
