How to get Fertiliser in Anno 1800
Posted on Mar 9, 2024
Make your crops grow twice as fast using fertiliser. How? Read it here!
Production can never go fast enough. Especially the production of basic crops is important to keep going. A lack of grain or peppers can prove disastrous for multiple population tiers.
To help you with this, the Seeds of Change DLC added to Anno 1800 in Season 4 introduces Fertiliser.
What is Fertiliser
Fertiliser is an agricultural product. It is used by Fertiliser Silos in all sessions but the Arctic to increase the productivity of different crop farms.
Fertiliser is produced by the Hacienda Fertiliser Works in the New World, which uses Dung as input.
Dung is produced automatically by animal farms in the New World that are inside the radius of the Hacienda Fertiliser Works.
Hacienda Fertiliser Works in the New World. It collects dung from Alpaca farms in the radius.
What purpose does Fertiliser have?
Fertiliser is used at Fertiliser Silo. An active Fertiliser Silo increases the linked crop farms productivity by +100%.
Not only that, it also adds an extra good effect with 1 ton extra produced every 3rd cycle.
And that 3rd cycle comes extra quick, because of the 100% productivity boost!
Some calculations
To put this into perspective: A regular Grain Farm produces 1 grain per minute (60 seconds). You require 2 Grain farms for every Mill to provide enough grain for 2 Bakeries (2 - 1 - 2).
Building | Regular cycle | Production per minute | Buildings needed for 100% productivity |
Grain Farm | 60 seconds | 1 | 2 |
Mill | 30 seconds | 2 | 1 |
Bakery | 60 seconds | 1 | 2 |
A Grain Farm with active Fertiliser Silo produces 2 grain per minute (1 every 30 seconds). Plus 1 extra on every 3rd cycle, so once every 90 seconds. In total, the production is 4 per 90 seconds.
Grain Farm in the Old World with +300% productivity bonus due to active Fertiliser Silo and Tractor Barn.
A mill requires 3 grain per 90 seconds to produce flour, so That means 1 Grain Farm can provide 1 Mills with enough grain for 2 Bakeries (1 - 1 - 2).
Building | Cycles with Fertiliser | Production per minute | Buildings needed for 100% productivity |
Grain Farm | 22 seconds | 2,66 | 1 |
Mill | 30 seconds | 2 | 1 |
Bakery | 60 seconds | 1 | 2 |
As you can see, you'll even have some grain left over: 1 every 90 seconds.
Do you have access to tractor barns as well? You can increase the productivity of your grain farm to a whopping 667%! Read about it here!
